adailyriot: nope. fuck that. we were Lakota, Nakota, Dakota, Crow, Arapahoe, Cheyenne, Cree. We were Choctaw, Creek, Seminole , Cherokee, Chickasaw. We were Washoe and Tongva. We were Dine (navajo), Hopi, Zuni, Apache. We were Miami. We were Nisqually, Squaxin, Quinault, Lumbee. We were more. We were the people. We were the people before America was a glimmer in anyone’s eyes. They may call me Native American, but I am Choctaw and Lakota far before I claim anything american.  *fun fact: Natives were not allowed to have American citizenship till after WWI. First you could only gain American citizenship if you had fought during the war. It was only years later that everyone else could gain American citizenship.
